Why are there scratches on my new OtterBox for iPod?

All of the OtterBox for iPod cases were designed as an interactive case that allows you to ruggedize your iPod, thus offering waterproof, dustproof, and drop protection. The material used is very strong but is not scratch resistant. Scratches on the case are a normal result of the manufacturing process. Our cases were engineered using materials that allow the screen of the iPod to be viewed through the case so that when in use, you will no longer see these scratches (although they are noticeable at first). Also, the material used around the click wheel was specially designed to act as a shock absorber to protect the iPod if dropped; this area was not designed to be ‘clear’ like the screen area.

Suggestion for extending the life of the screen viewing area of the cases... Purchase a pack of self-adhesive screen protector material that you would normally put right on the screen of your iPod. It will help prevent a lot of the "surface scratches" from everyday normal wear. When it does get marked up, just peel and replace with another sheet...
