 APL2-T4GXX Tech Specs

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 180 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best customer service ever!! The OtterBox protects my Ipod Touch and I can plug it in without removing the OtterBox. August 15, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Could be improved Good quality case offering superior protection. The design would be better if the headphones jack and the computer jack had seperate flaps. With only one flap, the computer jack is always open, and the flap will wear out faster and oerhaps break. Another improvement would be a screen cover that fits more snugly against the screen. Otherwise, the case is very protective. August 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Tough & Rugged My wife dropped our iPod from our ten story balcony. Our, iPod survived without a scratch. The OtterBox frame cracked, but with there outstanding customer service. They had a replacement out to us in less than a week. July 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by I absolutely love Otterbox. The quality and customer service is excellent, and they stand behind their products. June 30, 2014

It does, the Defender for the IPods and the case for an HTC android phone. But none of us ever use it. It's always in a pocket.

Yes, the screen protector is connected to the case. When the case arrived, there is the clear screen protector that is attached to the top of the white hard plastic cover, the bottom white hard plastic cover, and than I choose a grey soft plastic that goes over the 2 piece hard clam shell.

The screen protector is part of the inner hard plastic shell. So there are two layers, the shell and the rubberised outer case.

Yes it is. It is thin, hard and a little flexible. The case is 3 parts, hard shell front and back with a soft rubber like outer case covering the back and sides.

Yes and that's a problem as it was for HTC One phone. Dust and particles lodge between the device screen and case floating screen protector. I don't think there was a lot of testing for this design. It can actually do more harm to the device screen than help.

Yes, the screen protector is connected to the case. The three layers are 1) the screen protector, 2) a polycarbonate inner lining & 3) a silicone outer lining.

Great Question! The screen protector is connected to the case. The three layers of protection consiste of the clear protective screen protector, the high-impact polycarbonate shell, and the durable silicone.

No you do not need to take it off. I have a Zagg screen protector on and the original screen protector that is built into the case.

You won't need one because the case has once built in. But you can leave it on if you prefer. It would probably be better to take it off though.

I'd try it with the case screen in place. Since screens are heat not touch sensitive, it might be too thick to give you the performance you want. BUT, the Otter Box screen is lightly glued to the case and can be easily removed. One grandson removed his once it became too scratched for his likes. The case continued to perform well and protected it from his constant drops (he's 8 years old).

Pop out the Otter screen protector and keep yours, which is most likely attached to the screen. It's a better design that way.

We would recommend doing so as having more than one screen protector installed can cause sensitivity issues with the touch screen.

I am not familiar with the commuter series but the Defender case for my iPod touch has port plugs. They fit very firmly and snugly and feel like they are very durable. The ones on my BlackBerry case still feel strong after two years' of use.
