Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product, Not Gunmetal Gray Otterbox is the best. Love the defender. Gunmetal Gray should be renamed Simple Silver; gray is darker than silver, the outer layer is definitely silver. October 8, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Will Buy Otterbox Again I just ordered a new silicone cover knowing that it will begin to stretch out within a few months and may require replacing again (this is my 3rd silicone replacement). As much as I wish that Otterbox would figure out a way for the silicone to last longer, I will be buying Otterbox again when I replace my current phone. After being in the Defender case for almost 3 years, my phone still looks like new. It has been dropped too many times to count, thrown down steps and across the room (by young children) and has had water spilled on it more than once. It was definitely worth the money (especially with the warranty they provide). November 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome I bought this case for my girlfriend and for about 2-3 years it's held up great. I've had to warranty replace the rubber but the phone inside the case is literally SPOTLESS. Love otterbox, keep it up. October 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awsome! I have the Ottor Box Defender for my I Phone 4S. Iam a volunteer firefighter and a few weeks ago had a call come in around dinner time. In my hurried state to run out and start the car, I put my phone on the roof and forgot about it. As I got up to 55 mph I heard a thump noise but didn't realize what it was until I got to the station and my phone was gone. Three hours later after the call, I went looking for my phone expecting the worst. After about 45 minutes I found it along the side of the road IN WORKING CONDITION!!! The Otter Box case did an awsome job of protecting it! The case does show some skuff marks (duh), and it doesn't fit as well asa it should, but I"m very happy it did its job. I have many friends with broken I Phones, and I'm happy to not be in that group. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this case! September 19, 2014

Otterbox has a great return policy, as long as it is within the warranty period of one year from date of purchase. You also have to send them two pictures, which can all be done through their website.

Their customer service is wonderful. They do try to make their customers happy!

Q:
I bought an iPhone 4s rubber case from Otter online and it has an access to the earphone plug but it's completely covered. it seams that it has been reversed because it has access to the phone chip releaser. can you please tell me it that was the way it was built or there was a factory default?

Thank you!

Apple moved the earphone jack and the vibrate switch on the 4S over just a bit. Compared to just the 4.

I believe it's because they don't want dust and dirt to get in the earphone hole, so they reverse it to let you know it's there, but you have to open it.

I think it was built that way to keep dirt from getting in the plugin hole. You can always flip it up when you need it?

Just my take on it.

It should be there just tucked neatly in place. Just tug it a little. This feature protects the phone's plug when not in use.

Howdy! Well this is my take on your question...I had the same question over 2 years ago...I was trying to plug in my earphone device and I could not get it in, then I thought the same thing you did...obviously it has been reversed! However...after a while I came up with this answer

Just like the Off/On switch, the ringer switch, the charging port...the access is there but yet protecting your phone. I believe it's done that way to keep moisture from getting in...Cause all you have to do is pop up the flap and insert your plug...this answer may be wrong, but makes sense to me ;-)

My guess; the reason that opening is covered is to keep dust&debris at a minimal.

A:
It's a removable flap. This has saved me when the phone is exposed to dust and moisture. It's a port directly to the inside of the phone and should be covered when you are not using your ear piece. This is the same concept of the charging port.

I had the same issue, and when I discussed the location of the ear phone jack outlet with Otterbox, they explained that it wasn't a design flaw. The jack is covered to protect it from dust... and the opening to the side is for that small hole next to the earphone jack. Someone suggested that you could just cut that small rectangular part of the case so that the earphone jack is exposed, and that way you won't wear out the silicone by flipping it back and forth while you use the jack, which for most people is all the time!

Yes you can remove the holster from the phone case. It may take some force the first couple times until you get the hang of it, but it can be removed.

A:
You don't have to have the clip attached. It takes a little work, but it can be detached. I rarely use my clip (I keep mine in my pocket). To take it out, you lift up on the top part of the belt clip and pull the phone away from the clip.
