Some friends and I went on a long hard hike. Afterwards saying good bye's, we were taking our group photos at the cars. Stupidly, I laid my iPhone 4s face down the the rear roof of my CR-V and forgot it was there. I drove on heavily curvy backroads and in some instances at speeds up to 65 mph..... for 23 miles.
Upon arrival at my home, I couldn't find my phone and in a smack on the forehead moment remembered leaving it on the roof of my car, at the hiking site, in sprinkling rain. With the aid or a fast thinking friend and a find your iPhone app, we located the phone! Still operable and sending out a beacon! Upon arrival, I shuddered to look. Laying face up on the side of the road was my fully functioning phone nary a scratch.. Not a ding!
It was protected in a OtterBox Commuter case that has already taken it's share of abuse and guess what? The case has 2 small cracks and some scrapes but still fits! I called OtterBox to share this story and the super nice lady further made my experience delightful! A company committed to full customer service! I'm SOLD! I fully believe the rubberized inner membrane kept the phone from sliding off my roof all those miles. If the Commuter does this well, what's the Defender capable of?

Bad
Ive broken 2 in less than a year, they a brittle and the under neath soft part always gets messed up and stuck. Phones okay still.

LOVE IT!
I have several Commuter Series cases, because I like the variety! I've started to mix and match the silicone cases with the different color plastic shells. I agree with those who said the white gets dingy, so I took the white silicone part off and replaced it with black. It looks awesome with the pink plastic case! Additionally, it's durable. I have had a few cracks, but Otterbox's customer service is spectacular and responds immediately, honoring the warranty. I couldn't be more pleased with the product!

Poor quality
Purchased this case today at Best Buy and first thing out of the box the screen protector had 3 defects in it that looked like air bubbles. Tried to put the protector on my phone and these areas caused large air bubbles that couldn't be worked out. I took the protector off and then tried to put my phone in the case. The rubber or silicon on the bottom doesn't want to go in it's place. This area is very thin and flimsy. Not to mention the mini cloth to clean the screen. I don't think Barbie has anything this small. The sides of the case are slick. To have any grip you would have to hold the case from the very top side of the case. Not the quality I've experienced in the past. I have always bought Otter box cases for my iProducts but I believe this will be my last.
