Q:
Will the use of tempered glass interfere with the built in screen protector, or otherwise compromise the screen sensitivity and overall fit of the case?

A:
Absolutely none. Even the Thumb Identity works, just as well as without a case on it.

A:
To make the case waterproof there is a protective plastic film over all openings on the case which includes the screen, speakers, and cameras. I haven't noticed it degrading the images on the back camera, however, the front camera on my phone seems cloudy. It could be finger smudges or the phone itself.

It sure does! Being waterproof, it's protected 360 from scratches, dust, and just about anything else. I've taken this phone up and down mountains and into Slocan Lake, and it's still as good as the day I took it out of the box.

A:
Yes, it does cover the camera. The lens is recessed so you don't have to worry about it getting scratched.

I don't have a wireless charging cover to test it, but if the charging cover makes it any thicker I would say no. My phone is a very tight fit inside the case when it's all sealed up.

Each OtterBox case is engineered specifically to fit the device it will protect. Our cases are not designed to accommodate additional cases or accessories, such as wireless charging cover.

The great thing about it being waterproof is that there's no room for dust to get in at all. Make sure your phone is clean when you put it in the case, and it will stay like that forever. Just be gentle when you wipe the screen, as it's plastic and can scratch.

Sand hasn't scratched mine yet. I'm actually surprised that I don't have any scratches on the clear cover. I didn't know if I would like it or not, but you can't even tell it has a cover on it. Grease and oil, just wash it with soap and rinse it.

While I have not had my phone submerged in oil or coolant, it has gotten oil on it but I just clean the case right away and so far I have not had a problem. I'm thinking any oils or cleansers* found around shops would probably mess with the gaskets. As for fine metal dust, my shop has a lathe to machine rotors, haven't had a problem, though I usually don't leave my phone out and about near the thing when it's running. I'm thinking as long as those plugs are closed well, nothing will get in.

Sand is no problem, I fish in my off time and I've left my phone on the beach by my bag, wind covers it with sand and ocean spray, can't see anything wrong with it right now.

mine worked well for the first few weeks I had it but now the back keeps popping off, making the phone unsealed. I don't know if this is a common issue or not, just the one I'm facing now.

Q:
Does the screen protector make it difficult to get the S5 to do what you want it to do? Sorry, I'm a little leary. I had an OtterBox for my S3 a few (many?) years ago and the case was big and bulky, the touch screen "thick" I guess is the best way to describe it, or maybe drawn tight above the S3, which made it difficult to get the S3 screen to respond. I ended up buying another case.

Product Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by 69 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good short-term protection? The case has already aided in preventing my phone from being scratched and splashed. I worry however about the design. If you plan on leaving your phone in the case 24/7, rarely taking it out, then good. If like me, you need to open and close it to charge (hot climate overheats the phone) all the time, you might want to think about how long it will take until the material bends and corrupts the water proofing. The corners used to clip and un-clip the phone seem like they will bend out of shape after continual use. February 22, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good protection but inhibits ports THe otterbox case is sturdy and easy enough to put the phone into. But when my phone is in its case, my headphones can't make adequate contact with the headphone jack to work. Also, I can't get the tab covering the charging port on my phone open without taking the cover off my phone. I have resorted to leaving the samsung charge port cover open, instead of taking my phone out of the otterbox case every time I want to charge it. February 10, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Fogged photos The case was fine, until I started taking pictures. What a disappointment the pictures came truly hazed ,foggy, gave the case away.guess they will need a camera. January 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by OOPS ! NO No oops! Just a lot of thank you, thank you, thank you! Samsung Preserver Galaxy S5 GLACIER hasn't just given me peace of mind but it gives me all the protection I need for my phone. The waterproofing feature is fantastic, you just never know what the weather or every day living will hand out to you. The case also makes it so much easier to hold onto, but being the preserver series if I do happen to drop it, I know it will be protected. So I won't be using the oops! Thanks again great product!
