Q:
Since the Defender case has a belt clip on it, is there a suggested car mount I can use? Preferably one that doesn't use the air vent?

Such a large phone PLUS the belt clip would make it hard to judge if it would fit in a Car Mount without trying it. I personally prefer the heavy mats that sit on the dashboard, but any suction-cup mount can usually fit on a universal dashboard mat purchased separately.

Thanks!!

Hi Take your phone to the store and see if will fit the car mounts on display. I would suggest that u take the phone out of the clip when your driving, only use it when your out of the car. And Draknar had a good idea also, look for some kind of dash mount , but vent mount might be bad , could be too heavy for it.

Mountek universal cd slot mount. I've used it for my samsung infuse, note 1, and note3 defender cases.

Q:
I am a police officer and was wondering if the belt clip is long enough to securely fit on a police duty belt. Pretty much what is the depth of the clip that actually clips to the belt.

About 1-3/4", if you slip the belt into the clip. (It has a hook at the end to prevent being pulled up off the belt.) I don't think it would fit a 2" belt.

No only 40mm, but I find it fits in most pockets securely and have found the case robust. I carry mine easily in a chest pocket or operational pants thigh pocket.

The holding length of the clip is 1 3/4" the total clip is 3" . Gage the depth of your belt to the 1 3/4. The belt has a small curve hook at the end to prevent slippage.

Mine fits and grips fine. It is a spring loaded belt clip which can be opened with the thumb pushing against the case. The clip opens up and slides down over the belt. I use a 3" belt and the clip fits fine. It would fit any size belt you have, I`m sure. The spring is extra heavy. It atually bites down over the belt. I hope I have been able to explain. Godspeed. And have a safe walk with your Job.

the clip section of the product is made for a 2in wide belt that's 1/4in thick. but if you use a leather button strap on your service belt, it would fit there and can be rotated to face vertical or horizontal

There is some issue with the belt clip. I am a retired cop, but if I was still active I would not trust the clip in a foot chase or a scuffle with an idiot.

No...the depth of the clip that actually clips to the belt is just about 2". Would fit a trouser belt but not a gun belt. At least not a Sam Browne type.

Product Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 561 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Too bad the holder part keeps breaking I am now on my second and possibly on to my third Defender Series case. The little "tab" that keeps the case in the hip holster keeps breaking. (See picture) I spoke with the owner of my company and his has broken twice as well. I would think this is happening to a lot of these cases and that Otterbox would do something about this. If I do decide to get another one of these, I am going to file down that little retention clip so it doesn't take a huge effort to remove it from the holster. Just my $.02 Buyer beware.... It is a strong case if you ever drop your phone but not being able to wear it and having to carry it is a pain in the rump. April 16, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by almost best purchase It would be nice if we could purchase just the clips without having to buy the entire case. The clips break easily April 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love it! I opted to get an Otterbox for my new phone that would make it more difficult for my kids, or me, to damage it. My husband has one for his phone because he uses it for work and his usage and the fact his phone hasn't been damaged with all it's been through was the reason for me to get mine. My phone has already been dropped from the top of a car (thanks to my hubby) and SURVIVED without a scratch! Still works beautifully! April 7, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It works until it lands perfectly on the corner. As most of us know, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3's are heavy before you add the case to them. I had to get a new otterbox from Otterbox, after the clip broke after about 2 months of having it. The clip on the new case broke as well, and I ended up just caring my phone in the case in my pocket. I had dropped the phone several times, and each time the Otterbox protected it with no issues. The one time it fell off my desk, (about 4 feet) it landed right on the corner, and chipped the cover of the case (the plastic that is covered by the rubber), and the force the landing also broke the LCD screen with just a little line. Needless to say, the crack at the very bottom of the LCD (not the touch glass, but the actual screen itself below the glass) was barely visible, but caused the entire screen, within 24 hours to turn dark, with only the outer edges of the screen to show. If your curious, the corner is the bottom right, or the corner where the stylus is at. The front side has hard plastic protecting it, the back corner does not, and is likely the defect that caused the break in my phone. Friends that have had similar issues said they had their otterbox replaced, and their phone, however I can not find that information anywhere. It is durable, and while in my rare case, it failed ,I do recommend this case. I have dropped it outside, inside, on rocks, and down the stairs (with carpet) the case protected it. It would be very hard to reproduce the fall that broke my awesome and expensive phone. March 29, 2015
