The OtterBox Defender Series case for iPod 5th generation can be easily cleaned with a mild soap and water solution. Of course, be sure to remove the case from your device before cleaning it, and be sure your case has completely air dried before re-installing it on your iPod.

That's strange because the iPod touch should fit it even with the different storage capabilities. Just double check

Camera Covers?

Q:
Is there a thin layer of plastic to protect the front and rear cameras just like the apple logo? Sorry to ask but I can't really tell in the pictures and none of the reviews speak to it.

A:
No; there is no thin layer of plastic to protect the front and rear cameras nor the apple logo; it's only over the screen. However, the trough over these areas made by the cover thickness likely limits the odds for getting a scratch unless you make a concerted effort.

Hi,
Possibly a bit late answering however for the benefit of others, the answer is that there isn't a plastic layer to protect the front or rear cameras. The construction of the cases means that you would not need it. It would be extremely difficult for the lens to be damaged or scratched (unless deliberate).
Plastic film would also distort the clarity of any photo taken. You are able to access the lens to wipe with a soft cloth to keep them clean.

A:
No, there is no direct protection for the cameras, just the depth of the case. I've never had a camera lens scratch. I suspect they don't want to do anything that'll mess up the optics.

No, the camera and flash are completely exposed, but, the case has high edges so I don't think you'll need to worry about that.

A:
There is no plastic over the lens, but the hard plastic case is thick and raised enough around the lens to give them reasonable protection from scratches.

A:
No protection for the cameras. If there was a plastic layer like there is over the screen or the Apple logo, then it would possibly interfere with picture clarity, focusing ability and possibly render the microphone useless. I think this case is more for shock & scratch protection and water resistance. I have used it with wet hands and in the rain and feel confident that my device was protected. But due to that fact that there is also openings for the speaker and also charging and headphone ports, it is not water-tight.

To maintain the best image quality the lens for the front and rear camera is left uncovered.

Product Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 221 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent protection Which is why I always go to Otterbox for a case. Love it! Color pretty. Just what I ordered and easy to carry and hold onto. I love all otter products. Design nice and sleek and all port holes line up perfect. Thank you again. February 26, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good case with minimal inconvenience I really like this case. It keeps my iPod safe from most of my rough handling, which I love! The only thing I don't love about it is the opening around the headphone jack. It is not quite big enough for some auxiliary chords, which makes listening to music difficult sometimes. But otherwise, I think it is great! February 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Defender OtterBox Case This case is great, I bought it because I had bought a new iPod touch and right away I knew I needed something to protect it. That is exactly what this case does. I got this case because friends and family talked very highly about OtterBox. I do wish that this case came with a belt holster as did the one I bought for my phone. Very great product, I am very pleased. February 13, 2015
