Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 276 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Lightweight Case I recently switched to Symmetry case after having the Commuter case for over a year. I liked the Commuter case but the Symmetry is thinner, lighter and all one piece so it's very easy to slip on or take off. (If you've had other Otter cases then you know that the removal struggle is real - looking at you, Defender iPad mini case!) The reason I did not give the Symmetry case top marks is because 1.) There is no screen protection. 2.) It's a lot thinner than the other cases so I'm thinking this will offer minimal protection if it's dropped. I rarely use my phone so I think Symmetry will do the job for me. But if you need an extremely tough and durable case then I recommend the Defender model from Otter. My friend accidentally dropped her Defender-cased iPhone from a second floor balcony and it landed onto a tile floor below. The Defender protected the iPhone perfectly - we couldn't believe it. That incident turned me into an Otterbox customer!) December 18, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Product Looks Dirty Easily Otterbox is a great product and it protects my phone, no question about that. However, I purchased the teal/rose color and I have not been happy with that part of my purchase. The teal front gets incredibly dirty and you cannot clean it. I should have stuck with the black instead of branching out into a new fun color. I've tried cleaning it and nothing has worked, it constantly looks dirty. December 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Case I had purchased the case for my and one for my granddaughter. I also have one for myself, the case is outstanding and lives up to its workmanship. The Otter Box case is a great protection for your phone... December 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Slim yet durable So happy to have the protection of Otterbox in a stylish design & color. The perfect hybrid design for men or women. Slips into a pocket or small purse easily. December 14, 2014

No. You wouldn't want a film in front of the camera anyhow. The lens coating is sapphire, so you shouldn't worry about scratching the lens.

No ;but the way its designed its protected and you can clean easily. I had a film over my last one and if it steamed up or got dust you could not clean it.

If I understand your question correctly, no. There is nothing over the camera hole. In my opinion you wouldn't want anything over the camera, it would just get scratched and make your pictures blurry.

Perhaps there is an additional accessory that you can buy for this purpose, but with the basic case there is NO membrane covering the camera. While this case is slim, the camera hole is still deep enough to provide some protection for the camera, however. Hope that helps!

I have dropped it several times and my phone is just fine. I mountain bike and use my defender case for that only because of the screen protection, but I would use this case and not worry about damage. I am confident that it would protect it just fine. I do not like my screen covered for daily use.

The Symmetry series doesn't have screen protection, but it has pretty good protection against drops. I loved the new style choices of the Symmetry, so I purchased a screen protector to use with it to protect against scratches, etc. I also have the Armor series that I use when kayaking, biking, and in other tough situations. I got my dad the Defender. Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong with Otterbox! I sound kind-of like an ad from the company, but my best friend recommended I get an Otterbox when I got an iPhone, and I've been really happy with them.

It is less bulky and with the separate screen cover, I can get instant response when I touch the screen. With the defender, sometimes there was not an instant response. I think it is as protective. I am very careful with my phone, though I have dropped it a few times. I am confident with the Otter Box protection.

A:
The Defender will give your phone more cushioning and the built-in screen protector (not part of the Symmetry series) will guard against scratches. If you're concerned about dust, sand, etc. getting into your ports, the Defender is a good choice because it will keep them covered.

On the flip side, the Symmetry is a good choice if you want a lighter, less bulky case, and it's easier to slide in and out of your pockets. It also keeps the headphone and USB ports open, which is nice if you're using them a lot. No built-in screen protector with this case, but you can purchase a screen guard separately if you're so inclined.

I haven't had a Defender but I have had the Commuter. The Symmetry is a thinner design, not chunky. It doesn't even look like an Otterbox except for the logo on the back. The Symmetry does not have covers over the holes for the charger connection, volume buttons, etc.

A:
It is a lot less bulky. You do not have a screen guard with this case but you can order one. It is a lot easier to type on because of the rounded edged that don't stick up high. Headphone jack is super accessible and hard plastic on the outside still gives you lots of protection.

No. The Symmetry case is a more open concept case. Your volume buttons and lock button are covered but the mute switch, volume and bottom port are all uncovered. It makes using head phones easier, and the edge lays down more so it is easier to type on than the Commuter.
