Great Case
This case is the ultimate in protection for the Galaxy Tab and if anyone wants true protection for your tablet get this otterbox. Like other otterbox's they give you great protection and will always give you that. I would recommend this case and all otterbox products to anyone.

A great product
I bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Defender Series Case for one simple reason - to protect the galaxy from the kids! Guess what, it works and does so really well. Everything about the product is excellent, its really well made and above all it fits really snug.
It does add size and weight to the galaxy tab but thats the trade off for the excellent protection.
I really like the screen protector, I lightly dusted the inside of the screen protector with baby powder (talc powder) before I fitted it to the galaxy tab - this seems to avoid watermarking (no problems so far). The screen protector is excellent for taking the punishment that the kids dish out.
I contacted Otterbox during order processing as I was waiting for shipping confirmation and found Otterbox to be really helpful.

Excellent quality product, just need more colores
I purchased the Otter case for my Samsung Tab 2. Excellent product, it provides the protection it was designed for.
I would recommend to add more colors as it is more appealing than just a black color case.
I recommend it.
Is OtterBox considering to offer waterproof cases?

Almost perfect, but one big flaw
Enclosure
Excellent quality material and good fit with no movement inside the case, and does not impair the speakers, cameras, microphone, or IR blaster. It adds a fair amount of weight to the tablet, however I'm perfectly fine with this as all the other cases on the market for this model that I've seen are flimsy junk, and I'd rather have better protection than a slightly lighter case. Unfortunately, it blocks the microSD slot, so you'll have to completely remove your tablet from the case if you need access to it, but this isn't a deal breaker for me.
Silicone shell
Easy enough to get on and off when you need to, yet integrates tightly with the enclosure. Finish is smooth and soft enough to be comfortable, is not greasy like many silicon sleeves are, but is textured just enough to give it the right amount of tack for holding with one hand. My only gripe here is that the power and volume buttons are extremely stiff.
Removable shield cover / stand
The cover is easy to both remove and snap into place, yet doesn't seem like it would slip off unintentionally. The shield doesn't hold quite snug enough if you snap it to the back of the tablet instead of using it as a stand, resulting in a bit of wiggle and rattle.
The fold up stand inside the cover seems solid and works well for low and steep angles in landscape orientation and steep angle portrait orientation, however the centre of gravity is wrong for low angle portrait (position B in the instruction booklet), to the point where even the slightest touch to the top half of the screen will knock the tablet over. The only way to get around this is to rest the bottom edge a couple of inches past the edge of the cover onto the surface it rests on.
Integrated screen protector
This is by far the worst aspect of this product. It reduces swipe sensitivity a fair bit, although taps don't appear to be impaired. I could get past this, however upon installing the tablet in the case, rainbow "water marks" immediately appear, and only get worse over time, eventually covering most of the screen. Under the lighting I have at home, these were really only noticeable when the tablet is turned off, or when the screen is very dark or dim (e.g. while watching videos), but under the fluorescent lighting in my office, the marks are extremely visible, even with the tablet's backlight on full, being distracting to the point of being almost unusable.
It does not cover the tablet's glass from edge to edge, it only extends about 1/8th of an inch inside the case. The bevel it rests on inside the top half of the case would seem to prevent replacing it with a third party screen protector, since you would have to cut it using the original as a template, and then somehow apply it perfectly centered in order for the top case to sit properly. The other downsides to a integrated protector are that it jacks up the price of the case without you having a say in the matter, and if you manage to scratch it, you would have to order a complete case replacement instead of being able to just replace the film. This should have been a separate component from the enclosure, using a mild adhesive to prevent the bubbles, or a dry application product from their recent Wrapsol acquisition. Ideally, this would be completely optional with removable padding inside to keep the case fit to its current precision.
Bottom line
This could have been the perfect case for a Galaxy Tab 2 10.1". Were it not for the screen protector issue, I would have no hesitation about giving this 5 stars, despite the slightly high price.
