Great fit, but
Fit is as good as my iphone 3 series, but on my Samsung Note it is quite difficult to depress on-off button as well as volume. Both require extra hard press to get response from phone. My wife's Samsung Note has another manufacture's case which looks quite similar to the Otterbox, but works with ease.

5.3" of Excellence
Overall a really good case. The fitment is great. The outer plastic shell holds the inner silicone in place very nicely.
My main concern before buying this case was that it was going to make the buttons on the side even easier to accidentally press because the buttons are raised out from the rest of the case, but this is not a problem. With the case on, the buttons are actually somewhat harder to press than with no case, but not overly hard once you get used to them. This is good, as it is easy to accidentally press the power button when slipping the phone in and out of a pocket when no case is installed. The case actually solves this issue.
The case adds even more bulk to an already massive phone, but there is not really any way around this. I usually take good care of my phones, so I would have preferred something with this build quality but a little slimmer. But, for a case made for people that are hard on their phones, it's about right.
I will say that, even though the case adds to the phone's size, it is still easy enough to slip into a normal jeans pocket. The plastic outer shell is a very hard, slick material, and allows it to go in a pocket easily. The phone is still easy to hold thanks to the exposed silicone on the corners. I had a full-silicone skin on the phone before this, and even though it was a slimmer case than this, the silicone made the phone very hard to slip into a pocket.
The only real issue I have is that the headphone port cover seems a little flimsy. The hinge portion of the cover is molded into a very thin spot on the silicone portion of the case, so when you open it, it kind of unseats this part of the case a little (see photo). It goes back in place easily, but I don't know why they couldn't have made it hinge into the bottom of the case. The cover for the USB port hinges at the bottom of the case, and it has no such problem. The headphone cover feels like it will probably hold up in the long run though.
Last, while I am not currently using the screen protector, the case comes with two screen protectors. One for the US version of the phone, and one for the international version that has a cutout for the home button at the bottom of the screen.

No other Case does it Better
I've been a Note user for quite some time and needed a casing to protect this delicate phone through my daily usages. Had a couple of "Snap-On" and "Diary-Like" casing but none could match the build quality and the snug fitting of the Commuter series.
First off, putting it together was easy and i did not see any visible gaps or ill fittings i would usually see on most. Next was the solidness of the case, I have to admit I was curious to see how it would fair against a hard surface like a marble floor. That said i deliberately dropped it twice from an arms length and there was no problems with it protecting my Note.
A little bit pricey and definitely a One Up from the cases i usually "accessorize" with but if you're looking for a durable and solid protective solution, I recommend investing in an Otterbox for your favorite phone.
