Rated 2 out of 5 by Not too impressed I have had this case for about a month now, and I'm at the point where I spent too much money on this case to want to invest in another one even though I'm not totally satisfied with this. Here are a few reasons why I'm not satisfied: From day one, I read the instructions carefully, multiple times to make sure I could fully benefit from the features of this phone. I made sure I charged it all the way up, etc. I have my iPhone battery conditioned well, and don't start charging it until it's under 10%, and don't leave it plugged in at 100% all the time. The charging feature in the case only gets my phone charged up to the 70's, and that's with me not using it while it's charging up in my purse or pocket when I'm out and about. Secondly, the connection with the provided charging cord and the case is touchy. I find that I have to sometimes jiggle the cord to make the right amount of contact for it to charge. Sometimes after a long day at work, I get home, and both my phone and my case need to be charged up. I've plugged in the case (with phone inside) when I go to bed only to find in the morning when I wake up that the phone nor the case was charged.... leaving me with the dilemma of having to wait around for my phone to charge up enough so I can leave the house. This is a problem because I travel for work, and use my phone for making work related phone calls, checking e-mails, etc. Lastly, the case is a bit bulky compared to other charging cases (i.e. Mophie). This can be a pro and con all at the same time. I suppose with the bulkiness, it protects the case (I have yet to test this theory since I haven't dropped my phone with the case yet). Rated 4 out of 5 by Real life Comparison to Mobi = Otterbox WINS ALL! I bought the Resurgence in Teal Shimmer at one of those Box Stores about an hour away from home, on a Saturday. I was leaving for Europe the next day. It didn't work! I called Otterbox and a real guy who spoke English and was based in Colorado provided me with the most excellent customer service on a Saturday afternoon! He walked me through the troubleshooting and determined that the box was indeed dead, so he arranged to send me a new one while I was in Europe. Upon further examination of the box, it was obvious that someone had already returned it to the Box Store and I had received a pre-used/pre-broken box. I tried to find another Otterbox before I left, but in the short amount of time I had and in my small town, no one had one. The local cellular phone store had Mobi's only, so I purchased one just to be sure that I would have extra battery while on vacation. I used the Mobi for four days while on vacation. The design added another 2" to the overall length of the phone and it didn't offer any added protection like the Otterbox. What's more, it only offered 80% more power. While I was in Europe, I used my cell phone on global data roaming for the maps feature - which seemed to absolutely drain my phone. On average, I was out and about for 15 hours a day. Every single day I used the Mobi recharge. Even with the Mobi, it was necessary to turn off the phone intermittently or else risk having no maps or phone all after about 10 hours of use. I received the low battery bleeping and warning every single day, and this was after a full charge was received. On day five of my two week trip, I received the Otterbox Resurgence via FedEx (which incidentally cost about as much as the Resurgence itself). I took the Mobi off the iPhone and replaced it with the Otterbox and plugged it in for a charge. The first thing I noticed about the Otterbox was that it was about 2" shorter than the Mobi, but thicker, which meant it was easier to hold onto for those selfies I was taking. It also fit in my backpack easier and didn't fall out of it's assigned pocket. For the next 9 days, the Otterbox performed fantastically! Never once did I receive a low battery signal or get bleeped at. After 15 hours of roaming, wifi and data use, the Otterbox still had enough juice to power me all the way through the day. The Resurgence stated 100% more battery power and truly came through with that representation. What's more, while walking the marble steps of a castle, my phone slipped from my hands and fell to the ground. It bounced several times and I cringed, thinking that I was now without a phone for the rest of my trip. The Otterbox had a couple little smudges on it, but the phone was unharmed and unaffected by the fall. I would absolutely recommend the Resurgence to anyone considering the purchase of a battery extending protective box. What's more, the prices between the Otterbox and the Mobi are comparable. As a consumer who's compared the two products, Otterbox surpassed the Mobi in performance and protection by leaps and bounds. October 25, 2014

A:
You should have no problem charging the case with the phone in it. According to the info I read, the phone charges first and then it goes on and continues charging the case. I have had no problems charging both while the phone is in the case.

A:
Yes, the USB Cable, which comes with the phone, charges your phone 1st and then your Resurgency Power pack. The charging stops after 100% power has been re-charged.

I found it very difficult to remove this from my phone and at times almost felt I would break the top portion of the case. I would be weary of this item if your intention is to remove it frequently as it is not a simple and easy case to remove.
