Rated 1 out of 5 Review - Preserver Series for Samsung Galaxy S4 I have a number of Defender Series cases and I have always been very happy with them as I've dropped my iPhone and my Galaxy S4 a number of times. They always survived. I really like OtterBox products in general. As an avid boater/fisherman, I was excited when I saw the Preserver Series case. I'm afraid this time for OtterBox, it's a swing and a miss. The case is very difficult to take apart just to put the phone in. OK, it's waterproof. It has to be tight. I understand. The deal breaker, the thing that made me return it, was every phone call I made, people on the other end complained about the audio quality. "You sound like you fell into the bottom of a giant beer can." Even OtterBox mentioned how bad my audio was before I told them why I was calling! It seems the microphone port is just too covered up to get the waterproof rating and it impacts the audio quality. I had to return it. August 18, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very Disappointed Purchased the Preserver case because Otter box has always performed extremely well for me. However this model has not held up at all. When making a call the person on the receiving ling can barely hear you when talking into the phone unless you use a headphone set or Bluetooth receiver. After owning this case for a month the waterproofing mess for the speakers has come off leaving the the secondary mess exposed. The few times that I have needed to take the phone out of the case it has been very difficult to open and closing it can require a good bit of pressure. On the positive side the Preserver does handle drops well and keeps all dirt and dust away from the phone. August 14, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by preserver I like the the preserver case, I haven't tested it in water I am a little afraid to do that. The case is a little hard to get off the phone August 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Preserver I bought a preserver for a galaxy s4 from a verizon store and tested the case as stated in the directions and found that the case leaked. I contacted the company and within a week and half i had a new case with no questions asked. August 6, 2014

I know it's supposed to be waterproof already but heard too many stories of its viability in water & I can't risk it.

I have the preserver cover for my regular s4 and am very disappointed. The sound quality gets so bad sometimes that I have had to hang up, remove the cover and call people back.

The phone has to be original. No added screen saver or anything that changes its dimensions.

I have a Qi charging adapter that fits inside the standard S4 back cover and it works fine with the Preserver. I don't think an ovesized battery/back cover will fit in the case.

No this does not work with the proximity sensor. As soon as you make a call, the screen goes blank. It only turns back when the call is terminated.

This case can definitely be a bit buggy with the proximity sensor, it may work sometimes, or may never work at all.

Yes it does. The only thing I have found wrong with the case is that when you talk to people the call quality on THEIR end is worse. I get reports from people I talk to that say they can hear their own echo and other such things. Call quality on my end has never been better, It just gets old hearing every conversation start with I CANT HEAR YOU, usually though they can it just sounds weird at first.

Yes it does. There is an opening for the proximity sensor for the case to be effective in that aspect.
