Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 47 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by May not need a new case again. I've had the preserver for a couple of weeks now for my S5, and after fishing almost everyday this summer, and even in the fall, I don't think I've made a bad decision in buying it. I fish everywhere, off the shore/dock,boat/canoe even wade in up over my waist, I used to have to leave my phone in my car or at least in a waterproof bag. I have no fear of leaving my phone in my pocket now. I even had my phone drop overboard my canoe, after about 15 minutes trying to find the thing (kicked up a lot of mud and sand) and fishing it out, phone was still blasting pandora. My only complaint, if it can even be a complaint, would be the plug that covers the charging port, it works perfectly to keep out water, but it does make it a bit difficult to get to the charger cover for the actual phone, if you don't have very long finger nails, sometimes I will have to use a pocket knife or something to get to it. All in all pretty great case, if they ever come out with a new design that fixed that bottom plug, there would be no second thought into getting another preserver for my next phone. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great protection but lacks usability Overall if you're looking for a case that will preserve your phone then this is for you. My only complaints are that my aux cable doesn't plug into the headphones jack anymore because the case blocks it from doing so. Also it does GREAT in regards to underwater protection but if you're planning on taking photos underwater you need to use the side button because the touch-sensor for the screen goes all wonky when underwater. The sound is very slightly muffled but impressively clear considering it's water proof. September 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by cool case, but... being that it's the S5 it's a reasonably large phone, and the case didn't come with any sort of clip, so I have to carry it in my pocket. The back of the case periodically comes "unsnapped" and it's really kinda annoying to have to reseal the phone all the time. I'm also assuming this is how all the "debris" keeps getting inside the case inbetween the screen protector and my phone. I'm not really all that fond of this case... September 26, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great case but make spare USB hand tools available Received my new Otterbox Preserver case. I did the 30 minute water test as recommended. After 30 minutes, the case was still water tight. My Samsung Galaxy S5 fits perfectly. It even fits on my Defender belt clip, though in reverse. The phone display faces outward as opposed to inward as when I use my Defender case. The only drawback to the Preserver case is that the USB charge port can only be opened using the special hand tool provided with the Preserver. The hand tool is very easy to use. However, since the tool can become lost or damaged, Otterbox should make spares readily available. This would allow the user to keep one or more of the Otterbox hand tools at home and keep one in the car. Without this availability, it will be necessary to remove the case (which is more difficult without the hand tool) in order to open the USB port for charging. If not for this issue I would have given design an excellent rating as opposed to good and I would have given the overall rating 5 stars instead of 4. September 23, 2014

I don't have a wireless charging cover to test it, but if the charging cover makes it any thicker I would say no. My phone is a very tight fit inside the case when it's all sealed up.

Each OtterBox case is engineered specifically to fit the device it will protect. Our cases are not designed to accommodate additional cases or accessories, such as wireless charging cover.

A:
While I have not had my phone submerged in oil or coolant, it has gotten oil on it but I just clean the case right away and so far I have not had a problem. I'm thinking any oils or cleansers* found around shops would probably mess with the gaskets. As for fine metal dust, my shop has a lathe to machine rotors, haven't had a problem, though I usually don't leave my phone out and about near the thing when it's running. I'm thinking as long as those plugs are closed well, nothing will get in.

Sand is no problem, I fish in my off time and I've left my phone on the beach by my bag, wind covers it with sand and ocean spray, can't see anything wrong with it right now.

mine worked well for the first few weeks I had it but now the back keeps popping off, making the phone unsealed. I don't know if this is a common issue or not, just the one I'm facing now.

Q:
Does the screen protector make it difficult to get the S5 to do what you want it to do? Sorry, I'm a little leary. I had an OtterBox for my S3 a few (many?) years ago and the case was big and bulky, the touch screen "thick" I guess is the best way to describe it, or maybe drawn tight above the S3, which made it difficult to get the S3 screen to respond. I ended up buying another case.

Q:
I kayak with my phone and dropping my phone in the water usually means it will go to depths beyond the 6 feet. A lanyard would keep it with me rather than on the bottom of the sea.

yeah, there's a built in spot to attach the included lanyard. There's also a tool that you'll use to open the port to charge on the phone, I looped the other end of the lanyard through the tool and it worked out nicely.
