Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 60 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Preserver S5 is an excellent purchase This case has been great so far, I work as a mechanic and I need a case that meets the demands of my job. This case exceeds those demands and then some. My job requires me to be out in the elements quite a bit and this case feels right at home, on the go or in the shop I never have to worry about my phones protection. However are certain features of the case that could become a problem later on down the road. Number one being the charging port is pretty difficult to access without the supplied tool that otterbox sends with the case. I feel like eventually this could damage the cover and/or the o-ring, and prevent the case from being waterproof. As long as you are careful opening the cover you can prevent this though. Number two is that on a couple of occasions, I have found that somehow the case became unsnapped. I had not dropped the case or had any type of impact that would have caused this to happen. Luckly i noticed this and pressed it back together, but I worry that sometime i may not notice and the phone will become damaged in the process. Number three, is the rubber around the front of the case is starting to deteriorate and I have only had the case for about a month. This is a fairly common problem for most phone cases that i have purchased, so it is not a big concern just something i noticed. Otherwise the case is solid, built to last and handle whatever you can throw at it for a price i feel is well worth it. December 16, 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Pros and Cons I bought the most expensive OtterBox Preserver series for it's waterproof feature. However, after finding the Galaxy S5 itself comes waterproof from the factory I'd recommend getting the Defender series which is nearly 50% less expensive than the waterproof Preserver series. Rated 4 out of 5 by good case I do like this case a lot. The wrist piece did break on me randomly one day as I was using it. I was really happy that you guys sent me a new case though and it came quickly! Its a little bulky, but I'm not sure you could get any smaller with the same protection! November 2, 2014

Will the use of tempered glass interfere with the built in screen protector, or otherwise compromise the screen sensitivity and overall fit of the case?

A:
Absolutely none. Even the Thumb Identity works, just as well as without a case on it.

A:
To make the case waterproof there is a protective plastic film over all openings on the case which includes the screen, speakers, and cameras. I haven't noticed it degrading the images on the back camera, however, the front camera on my phone seems cloudy. It could be finger smudges or the phone itself.

It sure does! Being waterproof, it's protected 360 from scratches, dust, and just about anything else. I've taken this phone up and down mountains and into Slocan Lake, and it's still as good as the day I took it out of the box.

Yes, it does cover the camera. The lens is recessed so you don't have to worry about it getting scratched.

I don't have a wireless charging cover to test it, but if the charging cover makes it any thicker I would say no. My phone is a very tight fit inside the case when it's all sealed up.

Each OtterBox case is engineered specifically to fit the device it will protect. Our cases are not designed to accommodate additional cases or accessories, such as wireless charging cover.

The great thing about it being waterproof is that there's no room for dust to get in at all. Make sure your phone is clean when you put it in the case, and it will stay like that forever. Just be gentle when you wipe the screen, as it's plastic and can scratch.

Sand hasn't scratched mine yet. I'm actually surprised that I don't have any scratches on the clear cover. I didn't know if I would like it or not, but you can't even tell it has a cover on it. Grease and oil, just wash it with soap and rinse it.

While I have not had my phone submerged in oil or coolant, it has gotten oil on it but I just clean the case right away and so far I have not had a problem. I'm thinking any oils or cleansers* found around shops would probably mess with the gaskets. As for fine metal dust, my shop has a lathe to machine rotors, haven't had a problem, though I usually don't leave my phone out and about near the thing when it's running. I'm thinking as long as those plugs are closed well, nothing will get in.

Sand is no problem, I fish in my off time and I've left my phone on the beach by my bag, wind covers it with sand and ocean spray, can't see anything wrong with it right now.

mine worked well for the first few weeks I had it but now the back keeps popping off, making the phone unsealed. I don't know if this is a common issue or not, just the one I'm facing now.

Q:
Does the screen protector make it difficult to get the S5 to do what you want it to do? Sorry, I'm a little leary. I had an OtterBox for my S3 a few (many?) years ago and the case was big and bulky, the touch screen "thick" I guess is the best way to describe it, or maybe drawn tight above the S3, which made it difficult to get the S3 screen to respond. I ended up buying another case.
