Rated 2 out of 5 by Well.. I have always had an OtterBox on my phone, they are great for protecting the phone however, the most recent one I purchased for my LG G2 has been a complete disaster. Within the first couple of months having it, at least half of the clips that hold the hard case together were gone. I wasn't taking the case off all the time which is why I don't understand how they all broke off. Now, about 6 months into having it every clip is gone & the back rubber cover doesn't fit on it anymore on top of it ripping in multiple places. Needless to say I am extremely disappointed in this product. September 13, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Darned static electricity VERY much like the protection of the case, given how hard I've been on prior ones. I understand from Otter's very detailed, friendly and efficient customer service, that the "watermark" that accumulates between my phone's protective cover and the Otter's protective cover is really a build-up of static electricity. Customer Service patiently walked me through steps to remove the cover and put powder and wipe the screen with a clothes dryer sheet on the screen before reassembling. Unfortunately, the build-up again started within minutes. So, I've had to remove the screen protector on the Otter, as Customer Service advised. I am a bit disappointed, since I wanted really good protection for my screen and thought the Otter would be the answer. I DO like the balance of the Otter model's protection and am happy with it. Rated 1 out of 5 by Highly Dissapointed! I have owned and used several Otter Box Defender cases on other phones and have been very pleased. The case for my LG G2 (AT&T) is a HUGE Disappointment!! I have used this case for about 10 months hoping for a recall or design update. the biggest issue is that the front shield does not fit flush with the face of the phone (it bows outward). This causes several issues: 1) Tactile Feel when using the phone. 2) Dirt, Dust, and Debris collects between the front shield and phone screen. 3) Dragging from screen to screen is hampered. 4) Due to the outward bowing of the screen, it's hard to eliminate glare. As a Design Engineer, this product should have NEVER been released! My advice is to find another product or buy a version that doesn't have the built-in shield (remember to use an alternate phone screen shield). September 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent case I have this case for about 3 months excellent choice, good quality a little expensive but is worth it to pay for a good case my cell is protect. September 9, 2014

Q:
After reading reviews about the screen protector making the phone difficult to use due to an air-gap in the fitment, my question is whether that built-in screen protector could easily be removed from the case and if I could just apply my own stand-alone screen protector from another manufacturer?

It will NOT be easy to remove. That being said, it will depend upon the tools (utility knife, dremel tool, etc.) that you have available and your expertise/agility with those tools.

no, any aftermarket screen protector you get will not fit under the inner plastic case. it will allow dust or debris to get in and potentially scratch up your phone.

A:
Very easy to remove. Just separate the case, hold the front part, and push on the protector at one of the edges. It is held in place by a thin strip of double sided tape. Once you have it separated, just work your way around the cover until the whole thing is out.

A:
Yes it can! That is exactly what we did with the 2 cases that did not fit.

I haven't tried it but I thought about it. However I haven't had that much trouble with it just some cleaning every 2 or so weeks; takes less than 2 minutes.

However upon inspection of the case, it seems the cover is just glued in on the insides of the case and with a small amount of pressure you could easily remove it. Clean up the left over residue and use your own screen protector.

The screen protecter can be removed without much problem, but then you are left with an edge that will catch dust and dirt.

Well once You punch it out the product is broken in my opinion there's no way I'm getting mine back on so I got a stick on protector but it's not the same. Doesn't feel as secure.

A:
Yes and no. Yes, you can remove it via an exacto knife/razor and a steady hand. However, it's not a removable screen protector by design so you'll have some modifying to do on your own.
