Rated 5 out of 5 by Love my new case! I am very happy with my purchase and I love the color! April 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Otterbox for LG G2 Really good durable cover. My only issue is that dust gets between the screen protector and tne screen resulting in having to take it apart and clean it every so often. Not sure there is a solution for this issue. April 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Phone Cover Made I always use an Otter Box on my phones. You can save the monthly insurance. It is a great product and protects great. Dropped my phone several times but no problem with the Defender on it April 11, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by All Good Except For The Screen Protector This case has not been my best experience. Whether it was a design or manufacturing issue, the screen protector does not sit flat on the screen. It would cause inaccurate touches, which made typing very difficult. Customer service was fantastic about sending out replacements. But after four cases (original and three replacements), I've given up trying. Aside from the issues with the screen protector, the case is great. April 3, 2014

Q:
After reading reviews about the screen protector making the phone difficult to use due to an air-gap in the fitment, my question is whether that built-in screen protector could easily be removed from the case and if I could just apply my own stand-alone screen protector from another manufacturer?

A:
Very easy to remove. Just separate the case, hold the front part, and push on the protector at one of the edges. It is held in place by a thin strip of double sided tape. Once you have it separated, just work your way around the cover until the whole thing is out.

I haven't tried it but I thought about it. However I haven't had that much trouble with it just some cleaning every 2 or so weeks; takes less than 2 minutes.

However upon inspection of the case, it seems the cover is just glued in on the insides of the case and with a small amount of pressure you could easily remove it. Clean up the left over residue and use your own screen protector.

The screen protecter can be removed without much problem, but then you are left with an edge that will catch dust and dirt.

Well once You punch it out the product is broken in my opinion there's no way I'm getting mine back on so I got a stick on protector but it's not the same. Doesn't feel as secure.

A:
Yes and no. Yes, you can remove it via an exacto knife/razor and a steady hand. However, it's not a removable screen protector by design so you'll have some modifying to do on your own.
