Rated 5 out of 5 by AWESOME! Love my OtterBox! I know that my tablet is protected completely from whatever I throw at it. No complaints. More fun colors would be nice though. :) April 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product I have an Otter Box on my phone and loved it, so of course I had to get one for my tablet. I love that the case is triple layered so that I have protection on the the face of my items. April 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best case for protection Love the case so far a little heavy but worth all the protection you get. I wanted something to protect my screen i'm fussy about scratches. I also like the gray color it is easy to see at night. I also have a case for my Motorola Droid Razor phone and it works just as well, only wish the it was easier to attach it to the belt clip. Rated 5 out of 5 by Otter Box for Galaxy note 8 and for Galaxy S4 I own a Otterbox for my Galaxy S4 and for my Galaxy Note 8, I will never own another brand as long as Otterbox maintains thier current standards. I am a law enforcement professional and also served for four years in the United States Marine Corps, why does that matter? Because I am not gentle on my phones or tablets.....not at all. And the Otterbox has never let me or my equipment down, it'll take what you throw at it and come back smiling. The cases (Defender) are a bit bulky but I like knowing I have something sturdy in my hand, you can feel the quality. I have most recently got my wife to convert to Otterbox for her Iphone too and see no difference in the quality. Otterbox is costly but worth every penny, you get what you pay for! March 15, 2014

Q:
The otterbox looks very capable of protecting the Note, but can anyone tell us how heavy the 2 components are? and if it causes any strain when holding the device up with one hand?

A:
The weight of the two pieces is pretty minimal. I carry the Note 8.0 with me everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE, and it's not a problem. In fact, I think the case actually provides some needed "substance" to the tablet. Before the case, I was afraid I'd drop the darn thing since it was so light and thin. Now when I hold it, I really can hold it. I don't have any trouble holding it with one hand, with or without the stand attached.
If you want to minimize weight, loose the stand. It's not really necessary to protect the screen all the time, and I really don't use it on the go. I prefer to use the stand if I'm storing the tablet in a bag for a long time or if I'm actually using it as a stand.

The two pieces do make the tablet a little heavier, but I think in a good way.

I am not sure about the exact weight but it will make your tablet heavy due to multiple layers in case. I don't care about the weight because it is keeping my tablet safe.

I estaminet that it weighs at least 2lb or more with the tablet. Yes to me is a little bite heavy. Considering I just had surgery on my arms.

Q:
My girlfriend has the note 8, and I'd like to get her the defender for it, however, she has tried multiple screen protectors and every one of them interfered with the function of the S-pen. I'm wondering if the Defender's built in screen protector will have the same deleterious effect on the S-pen.

The pen feels slightly difference... like there is a little bit more resistance, but I have had no problems at all with the screen protector interfering with the pens performance. You really don't even know it is there. I have not had any issues at all with the pen not working properly.

Till date, I have no problem with the S pen on defender's built in screen protector. Maybe you will like to check if there is any screen protector on your girlfriend's note 8 before putting on Defender's screen protector.

No, it does not interfere. I have a stick-on screen protector AND the defender's built-in screen protector on my Note 8 and the S-pen still works perfectly.

Not really, it did make very slight resistance to the smoothness, but this went away after a short time of use.

Not at all. I asked Otterbox about that before I bought it. It's no problem.

I have a after market cover sealed on my Note 8 and the Defender built in screen protector...NO problem using S-pen. I don't like the visual bubbles shown when the tablet is off between the screens...but those same bubbles are not visible when I have my tablet on. I feel confident the tablet is protected especially when I travel because the Defender is durable when crammed in bags and resists reasonable drops.
