Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by best investment ever I looked at these cases for months but kept not buying because of the price. Then I dropped my ipad and have a small crack in the corner so I finally made the purchase. I love it! I just wish I hadn't waited. It is definitely worth the investment. What isn't necessarily clear online is that if you get the two pieces (shell and outer case) it entirely covers the ipad, including the screen, so it is totally protected. The stand is nice but not necessary if you want to save a little money. September 15, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Durable case but stiff buttons It seems to be built well and very sturdy, but...it does make it a challenge to press any of the buttons. Turning it on or off or adjusting the volume requires a lot of effort. Maybe as it is used more the buttons will break in and become easier to use I don't know but right now after about a month of use it takes quite a lot of effort to press any of the buttons. The screen protection not only protects the screen but it seems to allow full functionality unlike some other brand of products that make it difficult to access the edges of the screen. Otter Box allows complete access to the edge of the screen functions. Overall I like the case with the protection it gives. September 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Customer Service I have had Otterbox cases on ALL my devices, for the past 3 years. It is the only case that easily handles my busy lifestyle, and it withstands my clumsiness as well. That being said, my silicon cover (for the iPad Mini) did warp after just under a year of daily use. Initially, I thought I would have to pay for an entire new case, but because of Otterbox's amazing service, they are sending me a new free cover. A case is an investment for your device's security, and buying Otterbox is an investment for your case. You won't regret it. September 7, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by 1 year only I bought a defender series iPad cover and it literally lasted one year. I use my iPad everyday, but it literally fell to pieces. The hard plastic holds up, but the rubber around it will not last. You can buy (yes, buy) a replacement part, but for the cost, I would buy a liefproof case. July 10, 2014

A:
No, the Defender Series cases for the iPad mini have a built-in screen protector in the inner hard plastic shell of the case. The Defender screen protector isn't an adhesive screen protector like the Clearly Protected products are.

Q:
I was looking at some reviews and they said the screen shield feels plasticy. So I wanted to know if you could take off the screen shield and still use the case.

Not real heavy, just bulky. You can leave it behind, but it will only protect from scratches. The rubber part or sleeve comes apart after a few months. My lasted exactly 12, but I used the hard cover every time.

A:
It's still pretty heavy. The screen protector is not very thick so I would recommend using the cover while traveling, but that is a personal choice. You can leave it behind, however.

“I threw the iPad mini in the case against the wall, and the bezel of the case was able to absorb the impact to prevent the screen from shattering.” - TabletPC Review
