This otterbox was the first product I have used. I heard good things of this line from various friends. When I got this phone, I didn't want to damage it considering my line of work and the otterbox brand was the first thing that popped in my head to purchase.
The defender case definitely does what it's supposed to do. Defend my phone. You can probably put this case with phone inside through various abuse and your phone will still be okay. But the con of this feature is the case is going to make your phone bulky. So you have to ask yourself what is more important to you, sleek look or protection? I chose protection.
I really like how the ear phone jack and charger/micro usb port has a cover. This helps prevent dust and other stuff getting lodged up in there. At first I had difficulty getting the cover off the charger port but as time progressed, it is now not a problem.
The screen on the case gets dirty VERY easily. I think I have to clean the screen multiple times a week. I have to disassemble the case from the phone and use alcohol or Windex to clean the screen.

Razr Maxx HD case review - the good and the bad
Overall I am happy with thec case but, as with anything, room for improvement exists. My previous phone was an HTC Thunderbolt and I had a competitor's case for that phone (Otter didn't make one that worked with the extended battery case). That case had some features I like better but long term durability of the holster was an issue. I think the Otter case will be more durable.
The good: The overall case feel and design are very nice. The case protects the phone from damage when dropped or bumped. The case clips in and out of the holster easily and so far, in about a month of use, I haven't noticed the mechanism getting loose that might allow the phone to fall out. The cover over the headphone jack is fairly easy to open so you can install your headphones.
The bad: The belt clip mechanism doesn't work/fit well over most thicker leather or similar belts. I haven't figured out the purpose of the locking mechanism on the clip that holds the clip fully open but then is difficult to release. It holds the clip so far open that you can really use it. The locking mechanism aslo seems flimsy. I am sure it would break if you engaged it too many times.
The cover flap on the headphone port is easy to access but for some reason that didn't use the same type of notch/indent in the case for the cover over the charging port so getting to the charging port is a pain. I use my charging port more than I use headphones so this seems silly to me.
As thick and big as the case is, they probably could have come up with a cover or protective flap for the camera lens to protect it from dust and scratches. On my previous case the flap was a pain when taking pictures so this feature would have to be designed correctly though or it would be more of a pain than it is worth.
The plastic of the holster is a bit cheap feeling and makes noise when the phone isn't n it. Maybe a small pad of rubber or other material on the holster would correct that #something to dampen the vibration/sound). I might try adding that myself on the insde area that faces the phone's display screen.

Pros and Cons
First the Pros
As like all otter box's, the case does like it should... Protect against drops, scratches, and rain. Slimmer design than the one I had on my X2, making it easier to carry on days when I don't want the belt clip.
Now the Cons:
THE BELT CLIP IS HORRIBLE! Poor design. Yes it is sleeker than before, but the belt clip is not where you need sleek. It's where you need security. I jogged to my work truck and my phone went bouncing down the street. Tried to put my phone on the clip and it doesn't lock in all the way. Re-do the clip and you'd get a higher rating.

I love this case!
I have owned several Otterbox cases over the years and I am happy to say that this is the best yet. The fit is fantastic, and I love the improved silicone rubber wrap! It hardly shows dust at all, and is just hard enough to slide in and out of pockets easily. If you want a case that protects your phone, this is it. Period. If you don't like how big it feels when its in this case, etc. etc, then you should not be here, you are in the wrong place. The ONLY negative issue I could find is that the volume buttons need to break in a little bit, they are very hard to push when the case is new. I'm a big guy with big hands and I love this thing. I am NOT affiliated with Otterbox in anyway, I just love their products.
