DROID RAZR MAXX HD by Motorola Commuter Series
This case does NOT fit in the Motorola car dock
Contrary to the posted description on the product page above, this case does not fit in the Motorola Navigation Dock. As noted by Otterbox, "*The port door over the USB charging port has been removed on this Commuter Series case for smooth compatibility with Motorola’s Navigation Dock."...only there is no "smooth compatibility" to speak of. I was excited to have finally found an Otterbox case that was compatible with the car dock, but with all the sized inserts removed, the case is still too large to fit. The only way it works is if you remove the outer hard plastic shell.
Aside from this major quibble, the quality of the commuter case is better than previous commuter-style cases. I purchased the "Glacier" color style and I like the way it looks and feels. The rubberized section appears to be more silicone-based than prior cases for older phones. The rubber before was a tacky-feeling non-glossy rubber. This seems like it will hold up better and not collect a lot of lint.
The missing cover for the ports, again, wouldn't be such a big deal if the reasoning wasn't so this would fit in the dock - the fact that it does not, even though it says it should, is more than reason enough for me to return it.

Disappointed When I received This Case =(
I bought this case with great enthusiasm to put on my new Motorola RAZR Maxx HD only to be disappointed once I received it. The dust cover for the HDMI and micro USB are not part of this design. It comes with a dust cover flap for the audio jack but not the HDMI or micro USB. The back of the packaging for this case states that it provides dust protection. This is a misleading statement for this particular case.
My previous smartphone was the Motorola RAZR Maxx and I have the Commuter Case on it. That case came with the dust covers on top of the case. I was very happy with that design. I called Otterbox to express my disappointment with the new case. The reason they gave me for not adding the dust flaps for the HDMI & micro USB plug was for the Navigation Dock.
I did a further research and came across the Trident Aegis Case for Droid Razr Maxx HD. This is a one piece case design. This case comes with the dust flaps included. I recommend owners of the Razr Maxx HD to consider the Trident Case if you want the dust covers.
I hope that OTTERBOX would reconsider and come out with a Commuter Series Case that INCLUDES the HDMI and microUSB dust covers!!!

This a great case!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have all three colors in the commuter series and i think they are great cases they fit excellent and our very easy to change out to one of the the other colors. the one thing i will say is that the bolt color is very much orange like the other review posted it has taken some time to get used to but i know very much like it.

Razr Maxx HD everyday case
The case is somewhat protective and feels good in the hands and in a pocket, but I agree with others that the hard case should extend around the bottom of the phone to maintain protection and ease to slide in the pocket. One other gripe I have is if you provide a silicone cover for the jack, why not one for the HDMI and USB port? I like the quality of most Otter products, but wish they wouldn't outsource. The screen protector that come with the case is a joke and you can get one comparable on Ebay for a few dollars. This case vastly improved the feel of the phone as a "phone", no more ear bite from the sharp edge of the screen/bezel.
I have the defender case coming as well so expect an evauluation between both.
