Lives Up to Expectations--and Beyond About a year ago, at the suggestion of a passerby who saw me drop and shatter a phone screen while hiking, I bought an Otterbox Defender for my Droid Bionic. It was worth every penny! My daughter and I were sightseeing at the Four Corners Monument two days ago. Somehow the phone must have fallen to the running board of our car when I was getting in, and I didn't notice. When we stopped in Arizona about five miles later, I realized it was missing. Long story short, we went back, looked everywhere at Four Corners, scanned the roads and parking lot--no phone. I called my husband, who activated the "Where's My Droid" app. GPS coordinates located the phone along the road to the south, so we headed there, pulled the car off the road in the middle of nowhere and started looking. About 20 feet from the car I first saw the silicone cover in the sagebrush off the roadside. Several feet away I found the back of the plastic cover with the back cover of the phone still inside. A few feet from that lay my phone with the front cover close by. The only Otterbox damage was to the top left corner of the silicone cover where it must have first hit the road. It had to have bounced across the road to the other side, then come apart. The only phone damage was a small chip off the same corner! Since we were traveling around 60 mph when the phone hit the road, I had little hope that it would survive that kind of shock. The Otterbox Defender protected it, however, and both phone and cover are still in great working condition. The Defender lived up to its name! June 11, 2012
Best. Case. Ever. --Period. In the 13 years that I have been carrying a cell phone, this case is, without a doubt, the best one I have ever had. I am on my 15th phone and thanks to the OtterBox Defender case, I am not looking for #16. I dropped my phone on a gravel driveway and it was ran over by a 1-ton truck before I realized it was gone. The case survived and the phone still worked (though it had a broken screen). I replaced the screen, put it back in the case, and picked up where I left off. I will never go without an OtterBox. Ever. January 23, 2013
Good Protection, Bad Design Case does exactly as it says. Very protective. However, I work in construction and am constantly in dirt. The silicone cover is a dirt magnet and is hard to get phone in and out of pocket as it sticks. Cannot use belt clip as I am in and out of machinery all day and it comes off. Love the protection, just wish i didn't have to wash it each night. October 29, 2012
Great..... I love it! I got it when I bought the phone. I have the same problem that some others have, I wish I could use the extended battery with it, but I guess you can't have everything. It would also be nice to be able to put the phone in my dock without removing the case. I was in an accident where I was injured and the phone was thrown clear and landed on the pavement. No damage! Could you ask for more? August 1, 2012

Window/dash mount?

Q:
Are there any plans for a GPS style mount for either the dash or windshield?
Either one that the phone without holster can slide into or one that the holster supplied with the case can clip to?

A:
While we here at Otterbox have no plans to create mounts (we are going to concentrate on making great case), there are some companies out there that do. You can do an internet search and find one that fits your needs, but a good starting point is one called RAM Mounting Systems.

I haven't submerged my phone in water, but I have gotten it damp and spilt liquid on it. The liquid never even got through the case to my phone, so I would say yes!

Q:
Meaning, while you have this latched to your belt, can you turn it horizontal rather than vertical so it doesn't potentially smack the chair when you sit down or jab you in the side.

All of our belt clip holsters have a ratcheting feature that allows them to rotate 360 degrees, so the device can be carried either vertically or horizontally.

Q:
I am an otter box poster child: I had one on my original droid, and have them on my iPod Touch, iPad and my new Droid Bionic. I am concerned about the clear screen getting scratched when the bionic goes in and out of my pocket or bag. Using the belt clip is not practical, especially in my pocket. Will the warranty cover any scratches that develop? Do you have a recommendation for a screen protector that can be placed over the OEM screen to protect it?

I always put the phone into the belt clip with the screen facing in. However, if you're not using the clip this won't help.

The Layer 1 Screen Protector is actually built into the case for this phone, so you shouldn't have to purchase any extra screen guards to protect the face of your phone.

I bought a desktop dock and was slightly annoyed with having take the Defender off the phone when I used it. However, after I lost the phone from my car at highway speed and then found it and all the Defender pieces around it in perfect working condition, I don't mind the mild annoyance any more. The Defender is worth it.
