Rated 5 out of 5 My Otter Box I have had 4 styles of Blackberry's in the last few years. And, each time I get a new upgrade...I always get an otter box!!! I have loved them from the beginning...and I feel very confident when I drop my phone..things will be still working the same. I have dropped it a few times...and without the Otter box...I just don't feel my phone has the same protection. My son has had as many phones as me...and also uses the Otter Box. I will continue to buy them as long as they fit the phones I am using!!! Thanks Otter box!!! You gave me the protection I needed for my phone! July 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by love my otter Defender I have a Defender cover on my BlackBerry Q10! I love it! Better than just a case- I can use my phone and never worry about it! The rubber cover keeps it secure on my desk ( does not slide around)m the hard inner she'll and rubber outer shell keep the phone safe from all nocks and drops! The holster is low profile unlike most big "hip packs". Thanks Otter Best wishes from around the world Malaydiver July 20, 2014

It clips onto your belt and is easy to put on and off, but would be somewhat difficult for someone wanting to steel it off your belt to grab and run. the phone pops in and out of the holster easily but is secure once clipped in place properly.

If you're asking if the phone can be removed from the holster, yes. It comes right out. You can't use the phone otherwise. If you're asking whether the belt clip can be removed from the holster, no, I don't believe the clip can be removed at all.

The holster clips on to a belt. That is not the problem. When the phone snaps into the holster, there are two clips that hold the phone in place and after many uses they break off rendering the holster useless. The shell is indestructible and well made. It is the holster that is my issue.

The holster itself can be removed by the wearer but it is a solid attachment if you wear a belt or jeans with a good seam on the edge. The phone itself can be popped out by anyone quickly. Have to watch my kids or they can sneak it out quick while I'm driving or walking.

When trying to get the case off the phone, it is complex and requires some agility with my fingers. The small pressure points that are 'release points' are quite narrow and my fingernails were barely able to reach into the small indentation to depress the pressure points. This made for some repeated attempts to get the case off the phone to do some work on the battery and SIM card.

Regarding the holster - two things, the phone is tough to get out of the holster as the clips are necessarily very strong and it takes some practice and agility to take the phone out on the first attempt. Secondly, the holster clip onto the belt is not of the kind that can turn or rotate so the phone is always upright or vertical. This is awkward sometimes as it can dig into your leg or stomach area depending on how you sit or if you are in a car, theatre seat (with an arm on it) etc. The clip release that opens and closes (alligator clip style) is appropriate and works well and so far no spring breakage like I have had with other cheaper phone holsters. A rotating clip would AMP up the value of this case immensely and reduce the bruising and pinching that sometimes occurs when you sit down either in the wrong way or in the wrong place.

Depends what you mean, but yes, I can remove my holster with one hand if needed from the phone, and I can remove it from whatever I clip it to with one hand, but it remains securely in place until I intentionally remove the phone or holster from my pants/belt/luggage strap.

Q:
I have the Defender for the Blackberry Curve which comes with a keyboard cover. I love my Curve Defender especially the keyboard cover. I am looking at upgrading to the Q10. There is no keyboard cover mentioned in the description. Does it come with one? if not, will there be one available maybe seperately?

Mine did not come with a keyboard cover just a screen protector. Haven't had any problems with the keyboard and I use mine in a dusty and gritty shop environment much of the time. When it is in the holster keyboard is pretty well protected but not waterproof or washable if you have sticky fingers in your work. Z10 may be better for sealing and cleaning.

I have a BB Q10 and when the phone is in the Case, there is no physical contact between the keyboard and the case because the protective case around the phone is raised enough to prevent this from happening. No wear marks, scratches or inadvertent dialing of numbers takes place in the case or in the holster when clipped to the belt. In that regard, there are no issues. They need to get a unit that can rotate on the clip to allow it to ride horizontal or vertical or somewhere in between so it does grab things when you sit down. The edge of the case is rather large so with my "guy fingers" being large, I have trouble sometimes hitting the right keys on the keyboard, especially those closest to the edge where the raised cover case prevents my fingers from hitting the keys and I have to twist my fingers sideways to be sure I hit the right key.

I had a clip break - one of 4 that hold the phone in and another suggestion might be to have a 5th clip somewhere so that when one breaks, it does not neutralize the use of the case as my phone would NOT stay in a 3 clip unit so pocketed it for 8 days until my new unit came to me. They were great getting the new case to me after I took the mandatory photos of the break, the ID inside the phone cover etc. Was worth it though. New case and cover back in service.

No, there is not a keyboard cover for the Defender Q10. I had a Curve (chicklet keyboard) with a plastic or vinyl cover that I was very used to, so I was concerned about not having a cover for my Q10 (fretted keyboard with larger, square keys), but it hasn't been an issue, so I haven't gone looking for one since I purchased my Q10 Defender OtterBox, thus I don't know if one is now available.

There is no keyboard cover for the Q10 on this case. The raised edge of the case does offer some protection if it is face down on a flat surface though.
